L-carnitine
transports long-chain fatty acids into the
mitochondria of every cell. There, the fatty
acids are broken down into energy which is used
to fuel the cardiovascular and muscular systems.
L-carnitine enables the
body to utilize fat for energy more efficiently.
By promoting the adequate utilization of fatty
acids to fuel the heart and other essential
organs, L-carnitine can enhance the body's
energy levels and promote cardiovascular health.
Both L-carnitine and
coenzyme Q10 are involved in the metabolism of
fatty acids. Early studies suggest that L-carnitine
may actually work synergistically with CoQ10 to
provide antioxidant protection for the heart and
other organs.
L-carnitine is found
naturally in red meat, so supplementation for
vegetarians may be important. In addition, as
the body ages, it becomes less efficient at
metabolizing nutrients, so the elderly may also
benefit from L-carnitine supplementation.
All-natural L-carnitine:
- Promotes efficient
fat metabolism
- Enhances
cardiovascular health*
