The emperors of the last dynasty of China (the Ching Dynasty)
maintained a special Ginseng preserve in the Changbai Mountains
of northeastern China (Manchuria). On this preserve was raised
a superior grade of Ginseng. The Emperor and his family and
court consumed this Ginseng at the Imperial Palace in Beijing
for centuries. They also presented this very fine Ginseng
to guests and dignatories when they visited the Emperor. Therefore,
this royal Ginseng became known as "Emperor's Tribute
Ginseng." Anyone caught stealing this Ginseng would lose
their head. This royal crop was considered to be the prime
spiritual herb of the "Son of Heaven," the spiritual

the imperial era, the imperial Changbai Mountain Ginseng Preserve
was shut down by the new government. However, about 12 years
ago, the half brother of the last emperor of China petitioned
