INSTALLING
A JUPITER WATER IONIZER
This
page is intended for both new Jupiter Water Ionizer
Owners as well as those who are considering a Jupiter,
but are worried that installation will be difficult.
We hope the following will ease your installation
concerns, once we show you how simple the job can be.
|
|
STEP
1:
Your new Jupiter Ionizer will include everything
required for most installations. Carefully open box and
verify that you have all of the following in the
Styrofoam tray at the top of the box:
- Stainless
steel spout
- pH
test kit consisting of red test solution and color
chart
- Spare
fuse combined with pH test kit
- Diverter
valve assembly with blue handle
- Adapter
for threadless spout - you probably won't need this
- 2
each spring clamps
- 3
each glass test tubes
- 2
nails for wall mounting - for use if counter space
is limited
|

FROM
TOP TO LEFT TO RIGHT: FLEX HOSE, DIVERTER, ADAPTER,
TEST TUBES, FUSE, CLAMPS, NAILS, pH TEST KIT
|
|
Upon
verifying that the above is contained in the Styrofoam
top tray, gently remove tray and set aside. Carefully
remove the remaining contents as follows:
- Jupiter
Ionizer Unit
- 1
coil of white hose
- Instruction
manual - PLEASE READ THIS!
- Wall
mounting hole template

JUPITER
MAVELLO SHOWN WITH REQUIRED READING AND HOSE
|
| Note:
Occasionally, a customer's faucet will have
female threading, in which case you will need
Bluestone Group's diverter
valve adapter kit ($8) for female threaded
faucets. Each kit contains 2 of the most
commonly used adapters. Adapters for female
threaded faucets may also be found at your local
hardware store. |

CINCH MIDDLE OF DIVERTER WITH PLIERS

MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE
|
Please
keep empty box with Styrofoam inserts in a safe place
for use in the event your Jupiter would ever need to be
returned to Bluestone Group for repair or upgrade.
STEP 2:
By
now, you have determined where to install your new
Jupiter, probably right at your kitchen sink or perhaps
a utility tub in the laundry. We're sure you'll agree
that either the Masterpiece or Mavello will compliment
just about any décor and the space requirement will be
minimal. Now that we have determined that the supplied
Jupiter Ionizer package is complete, we are ready for
installation as follows:
- The
only tool you will need is a pair of pliers
- Remove
existing water aerator from faucet and install
Jupiter diverter valve. Carefully start rotating top
of diverter assembly onto exposed male faucet
threads in a clockwise direction. Before bottom
portion of assembly seats into gasket, make sure
that barbed hose fitting is facing the location of
Jupiter installation. Use a pair of pliers to gently
cinch middle faceted collar to make sure gaskets are
fully seated. Note that the diverter valve assembly
has its own aerator so that you can still use your
faucet as you always have before.
- Next
we are ready to cut the supplied hose to length -
First, place Jupiter on counter at installation
location, then unwrap the coil of hose. If you are
installing your Jupiter without a pre-filter, hold
one end of the hose next to barbed hose fitting on
diverter valve. Then, just slide your other hand
along hose length until you reach the back of your
Jupiter Ionizer. Add just a little length to allow
for left-to-right faucet movement then cut the hose
at this point with a sharp pair of scissors.
|

PLACE SPRING CLAMPS 3 INCHES FROM EACH END
|
- Take
both of the spring clamps and thread the hose
through them so that each one is 3 inches from each
end of the hose.
- Press
the diverter valve end of the hose onto the barbed
metal fitting. Once fully inserted, depress tabs on
spring clamp with pliers and slide onto area where
barbed fitting will have penetrated. Release tabs.
|
- Press
the Jupiter Ionizer end of the hose onto the nylon
barbed fitting marked "ENTRANCE INLET".
This will be the port on the right as you're facing
the rear of the machine. Use the pliers again to
depress 2nd spring clamp and slide up onto area
where barbed fitting will have penetrated and
release.
- If
installing a Bluestone Group Pre-filter, place
filter container to the rear of Jupiter Ionizer and
repeat above measurement procedure, making your
first cut at the prefilter, instead of the Jupiter
Ionizer. Slide hose onto filter nylon barbed fitting
marked "IN". Take remaining hose length
and plug onto pre-filter fitting marked
"OUT". Note that the pre-filter does not
require any spring clamps on either the
"IN" or the "OUT" ports.
Continue with second length of hose from pre-filter
"OUT" port to the "ENTRANCE
INLET" port of the Jupiter Ionizer.
Next,
we will determine the length of hose required for
attachment to the "ACID WATER OUTLET". This
will be the port on the left as you're facing the
machine. Keep in mind that the acid water byproduct of
your Jupiter Ionizer will be good for use as an
astringent, antiseptic, mouthwash, or plant food. For
this reason, it is a good idea to allow sufficient
length of hose to reach a container so that acid water
may be periodically collected for these uses. When not
being collected, the acid water will just be discharged
down the drain. Attach one end of the remaining hose to
the "ACID WATER OUTLET" port and slide your
hand along its length to gauge the appropriate cutting
point. Again, use sharp scissors to cut hose at this
point.
(NOTE:
THE MAVELLO UTILIZES A SMALLER DIAMETER FITTING ON THE
ACID OUTLET. THIS CORRESPONDS WITH THE SUPPLIED SMALLER
DIAMETER HOSE TO MINIMIZE RISK OF REVERSED CONNECTION.)

MAVELLO CONNECTION COMPLETE - THERE IS NO CLAMP NEEDED
FOR ACID OUTLET
|

SLIDE CLAMP TO END OF HOSE AND RELEASE

BOTTOM OF OPTIONAL CARBON BLOCK PRE-FILTER - BE SURE
TO LOCATE "IN" AND "OUT" BEFORE
CONNECTING

OPTIONAL PRE-FILTER WITH INPUT CONNECTION COMPLETE

TAP WATER INPUT & ACID WATER OUTLET ON MASTERPIECE

|

INSERT FLEX-HOSE AND TIGHTEN CLOCKWISE

FLEX-HOSE WILL BEND TO ACCOMMODATE LARGE CONTAINERS
|
STEP
3:
Now
that we have made our water connections, we are ready
for some final assembly and checkout:
- Install
the stainless steel alkaline water flex-hose spout
by screwing clockwise into rotating joint on top of
machine. Tighten just enough to seat o-rings, but do
not over tighten. Bend flex-hose spout to suit your
requirements.
|

MAIN POWER SWITCH ON REAR OF MAVELLO
|
- Open
filter door and verify that filter has not come
loose during shipping. Rotate Masterpiece filter
clockwise until tabs are fully locked under
stanchions. Make sure that Mavello filter is fully
snapped into spring loaded pedestal.
|

DOUBLE CHECK THAT FILTER IS SEATED
|

MAVELLO COMES ALIVE
|
- Plug
electrical cord into wall outlet - the Masterpiece
will beep as its electronics initialize. The Mavello
will also beep once both the main power switch on
the rear panel and the front panel power switch are
turned on. Once turned on, the Mavello will be in a
"ready" state and does not need to be
turned off. The last pH level selected and the
filter life indicator will always be lit, in
addition to the power on button. The Masterpiece
will power up automatically upon water input.
|
|
STEP
4:
Your
first glass of Jupiter water is ready to drink after
these final steps:
|

BLUE HANDLE VERTICAL-USE FAUCET AS BEFORE
|
- Make
sure that blue diverter valve handle is in the
vertical position. ˇ Turn on cold water at the
faucet - make sure handle is in the "COLD"
position before turning water on - note how water
comes through the diverter valve aerator for use as
before.
|
- Slowly
rotate the blue diverter handle in a clockwise
direction so that water STOPS flowing into sink and
STARTS flowing through hose attached to Jupiter
Ionizer. It is normal to hear some gurgling noises,
especially at first use.
|

BLUE HANDLE HORIZONTAL-WATER TO JUPITER
|
- You
will hear a beeping with either model. The beep will
continue with the Masterpiece during the automatic
cleaning cycle. The Mavello will entertain you with
a tune during the clean cycle. Again, the cleaning
cycle is automatic with both models and is there to
protect the ionization chamber from scale build up.
- Once
the clean cycle is complete on both models, the
"ion" LED will illuminate and the
beeping/music will stop
|
|
STEP
5:
Now
we are ready to get a water sample and test for the
correct drinking water setting.
|

JUST 2/3RDS FULL - ONLY 2 DROPS OF pH TEST SOLUTION
|
- At
first use, allow the machine to operate for a couple
of minutes, then select the #2 setting.
- Locate
pH test kit and peel backing off of color chart.
Affix color chart to your machine or a nearby
surface for easy visibility
- Thoroughly
rinse one of the test tubes, then fill to 2/3rds
full. Place test tube in a glass to prevent
spilling.
- Open
small bottle of pH test solution and fill dropper
with liquid.
|

PLACE COLOR CHART FOR EASY REFERENCE
|

MASTERPIECE 11.1pH @ #5 SETTING - USE HIGHER SETTINGS
FOR COOKING, COFFEE, OR JUICE ONLY!!
|
- Place
just 2 drops into water sample. Cover with thumb and
invert test tube several times to mix.
- Compare
resulting color to chart. You should strive for the
shade of BLUE color that would indicate a pH of
between 8.0 and 9.0. ˇ Adjust setting up or down as
needed and repeat test until reading of between 8.0
and 9.0 can be achieved. Remember, more is not
necessarily better which is why Jupiter
