De-chlorinating
Shower Filters
 Once
Chlorine has done its job of preventing microbiological growth
in water while it is being pumped into our homes, we no longer
need, nor want it. This is especially so in our shower water. In
a typical shower, hot water is sprayed and the chlorine is
atomized into a near vapor that can be inhaled. To make matters
worse, warm water will make the pores on our skin open, allowing
even more chlorine to be absorbed.
Chlorine
is an OXIDIZING agent, quite the opposite of the ANTI-OXIDANT
ionized water that Jupiter Water Ionizers make. Chlorine
is an extreme example of the free radicals we've discussed in
the context of Jupiter Ionizers. These compounds are looking to
take on electrons to balance their electrical charge. In the
case of chlorine in our showers, this could be electrons from
the cells of our skin and airways. It has been written that one
can absorb more chlorine from a shower than can be absorbed by
drinking chlorinated tap water. Luckily, there are many
de-chlorinating shower filters on the market. Most of these use
some form of a fiber filter combined with Granulated Activated
Carbon. Activated Carbon naturally absorbs chlorine, heavy
metals, and some organic compounds. Bluestone Group has added
such a filter to our offering, in keeping with our campaign
against chlorine that has already served its purpose.
  The
Bluestone Shower filter does not boast of any miraculous
feature other than the fact that it is more economical
than some. Note that the Bluestone Shower Filter allows
you to make use of the existing shower head. Bluestone
Group also has special chlorine test strips (BSG-TSC)
available to tell you when it is time to replace the
shower filter cartridge. This could actually save you
money by delaying cartridge exchange until chlorine was
actually detected, instead of every 6 months.
